Requirements

• No formal education is required.
• Must fulfill the annual continuing education requirements of the department and facility including departmental meetings, safety education and mandatory online training.
• Knowledge of general day-to-day housekeeping tasks in each of the various departments/areas of the facility.
• Following the cleaning policy and procedure for each department while following guidelines in the use of cleaning/sanitation chemicals.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in resident rooms and assigned areas for residents and staff members by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines.
• Emptying waste baskets.
• Sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors using brooms, mops, or powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
• Demonstrating knowledge of housekeeping processes, tools and techniques in a healthcare environment and applying this to provide a clean and sterile environment for patients and facility staff.
• Cleaning resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas to meet health standards.
• Wearing the proper protective equipment following the appropriate guidelines.
• Keeping storage, equipment, and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
• Assisting in the laundry areas as appropriate.
• Performing considerable use of arms and legs and moving of whole body; such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, twisting, squatting, and handling materials.
• Lifting and/or moving up to 40-50lbs and pushing/pulling variable weight limits on flat surfaces or up and down ramps.
• Being on feet for most of the shift.
• Being exposed to certain levels of noise with the equipment in operation.
