About The Position

The Housekeeping Aid is responsible for maintaining positive guest relations and guest confidentiality, resolving guest complaints to ensure satisfaction, and communicating effectively with guests and team members. This role requires maintaining knowledge of hotel features, services, hours of operation, room rates, special packages, promotions, daily house counts, expected arrivals/departures, and scheduled group activities. The position also involves maintaining knowledge of correct equipment use and maintenance, adhering to OSHA regulations for chemical use, completing daily reports, stocking linen rooms, and maintaining pool areas. Responsibilities include cleaning various hotel areas such as elevators, trash cans, ice and soda machines, and hallways, as well as cleaning rugs, carpets, and upholstered furniture. The role also involves removing dirty linen, picking up trash, delivering guest requests, and handling lost and found items. Housekeeping Aids must be aware of local attractions to assist guests and assist in emergency situations to protect guests and the property. They are expected to know and abide by all departmental, company, and brand policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Exert physical effort in lifting/transporting at least 25 pounds.
  • Push/pull carts and other equipment up to 100 pounds.
  • Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas.
  • Work environment includes front office, and all areas of the hotel.
  • The job involves working under variable temperature conditions and noise levels, in indoor and outdoor settings.
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for lengthy periods of time.
  • Work environment includes Guest Rooms, Guest and Corridors, Housekeeping Office.
  • Job involves working under variable temperature conditions and noise levels, in indoor settings, and around fumes and/or odor hazards, dust and/or mite hazards, biohazards and chemicals.
  • Must be able to stand and exert well paced mobility for lengthy periods of time.
  • Must be able to reach above head and shoulder height to perform job duties.

Nice To Haves

  • No houseperson is allowed in any guestroom at any time unless requested by the supervisor.
  • All housepersons are to always be in plain view.

Responsibilities

  • Always maintain positive guest relations and guest confidentiality.
  • Work to resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction and communicating effectively with guests as well as team members.
  • Maintain knowledge of all hotel features/services, hours of operation, room rates, special packages and promotions, daily house count and expected arrivals/departures and scheduled daily group activities.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment.
  • Use all chemicals in accordance with OSHA regulations and hotel requirements.
  • Complete daily report as instructed by supervisor.
  • Stock linen room with supplies.
  • Empty linen from housekeeping carts.
  • Sweep and mop areas in front of elevators; clean all trash cans, and clean elevator track.
  • Maintain pool areas.
  • Clean pool windows and bathroom daily.
  • Clean ice and soda machines on all floors.
  • Dust light fixtures in hallways.
  • Cleans rugs, carpets and upholstered furniture using a vacuum cleaner, broom and carpet shampoo machine.
  • Wash walls and ceiling, moves furniture’s and turn mattress.
  • Remove all the dirty linen from laundry chutes and dirty linen from hallways.
  • Pick up trash from all floors after the room attendants finish for the day.
  • Deliver towels, cribs, cots and other items to the guest rooms upon request.
  • Turn in lost and found items immediately to the supervisor.
  • Aid co-workers and guests as needed.
  • Notify the supervisor of any guests’ complaints or comments.
  • Be familiar with all local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
  • Assists in handling emergencies to protect our guests and associates and preserve the building and its systems during emergencies.
  • Act as quickly and responsibly as possible to return the building to its normal operating status.
  • Provide guests with information and recommendations on the local downtown area.
  • Responsible for knowing and abiding by all departments, Commonwealth Lodging Management and hotel policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for knowing and abiding by brand standards, policies and procedures.
