About The Position

Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of housekeeping duties focusing on proper floor cleaning in order to provide a clean, orderly and safe environment; and perform related work as required. This role involves cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, dusting and wiping furniture, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors, and emptying wastebaskets. The position also includes refilling restroom dispensers, performing duties in and around campus facilities, implementing setup and takedown for events, and working closely with employees and the public to meet custodial needs. Responsibilities also extend to stripping, cleaning, and buffing floors, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, and using and maintaining assigned power equipment and hand tools. The role requires washing walls and equipment, using equipment in accordance with OSHA and institutional safety procedures, locking and unlocking buildings, and securing facilities. Following instructions regarding cleaning materials and supplies, moving furniture and equipment, and washing windows and cleaning blinds are also part of the duties. Handling trash and recycling materials, maintaining regular attendance, and performing other related duties are expected. Applicants must be reliable, have a stable work history, and pass a background check.

  • One (1) year of custodial experience.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedures.

  • Wash walls and equipment.
  • Use equipment in accordance with OSHA and other Institutional safety procedures when required in work assignments.
  • Lock and unlock assigned buildings: secure building when facilities are not in use checking for unlocked doors, report any unauthorized occupants, turn off lights, etc.
  • Follow instructions regarding the use of cleaning materials and supplies in accordance with OSHA and Institutional Safety Protocols.
  • Move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools on an as needed basis.
  • Wash accessible interior and exterior windows and clean associated blinds on an as needed basis.
  • Handle trash and other recycling materials in accordance with proper disposal procedures.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
