About The Position

As a Housekeeper for Shelburne Farms, you will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for all. This role is essential in maintaining the cleanliness and overall appearance of the inn and cottages across the farm while providing exceptional service to our guests and visitors. You will be responsible for the cleaning and care of all 2nd and 3rd floor bedrooms, bathrooms, and public spaces, as well as all guest cottages and houses. This includes changing bed linens, towels, replenishing guest amenities with sustainable options, and assisting with daily laundry. You will also clean and maintain common areas within the historical Inn, ensuring the preservation of its unique features, and learn proper care for museum-quality furnishings, woodwork, and floors. Routine cleaning tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, and mopping using environmentally friendly methods are also part of the role. Additionally, you will greet and assist guests, providing information about their room, the inn, and the farm, and may engage with guests curious about the farm's programs and activities.

Requirements

Available to work weekends and holidays.
Strong attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.
Welcome to all and comfortable working with individuals and groups of all backgrounds.
Moving up and down 1 - 2 flights of stairs while carrying items weighing up to 40 lbs.
Being active for extended periods of time.
Working in settings with limited air conditioned work environments depending on the location.
Moving over uneven indoor terrain.
Working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Cleaning and care of all 2nd and 3rd floor bedrooms, bathrooms, and public spaces.
Cleaning and care of all guest cottages and houses (single room and multi-room cottages).
Change bed linens, towels, and replenish guest amenities with sustainable options.
Assisting with the daily laundry and care of linens as needed.
Clean and maintain common areas within the historical Inn, ensuring preservation of its unique features.
Learning and following proper care of museum quality furnishings, special woodwork and floors, etc.
Perform routine cleaning tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, and mopping using environmentally friendly methods.
Greet and assist guests, providing instructions and information about their room, the inn and farm.
Engage with guests if they’re curious to learn more about our programs, tours, activities, and the general farm.
