About The Position

The Housekeeper helps create a joyful and vibrant community by maintaining a beautiful environment, keeping the community tidy, clean, sanitary, and pleasing to the senses. The role involves supporting the dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home-like environment for residents by performing day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned. High standards of cleanliness are essential, ensuring that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive manner. The position requires adherence to established safety precautions and Infection Control practices, and the ability to operate and maintain housekeeping/laundry equipment. The Housekeeper must be capable of working safely, recognizing potentially dangerous situations, and staying current on assigned tasks and duties.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Pass a criminal background and fingerprint check.
  • Has compassion and a special interest in working with the senior population.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and overtime, to meet the requirements of the position.
  • Ability to relate positively and communicate appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other employees.
  • Maintains current food handler’s card.

Responsibilities

  • Supports dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home-like environment for residents.
  • Performs the day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned.
  • Ensures that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable and attractive manner.
  • Follows established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.
  • Follows established Infection Control practices when performing housekeeping procedures.
  • Operates and maintains all housekeeping/laundry equipment (i.e., commercial washer/dryer, buffing machines, etc.).
  • Works safely and recognizes potentially dangerous situations.
  • Attends and participates in required meetings and trainings.
  • Stays current on system assigned tasks and duties.
  • Performs other tasks/duties as assigned.
  • Maintains clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Meets all mandatory health requirements by State regulations.
