Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Perform general cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and sanitizing patient rooms, hallways, and common areas
  • Ensure all assigned areas meet cleanliness and safety standards
  • Maintain supplies and report any maintenance issues
  • Follow infection control protocols and safety procedures
  • Contribute positively to team efforts and uphold the hospital’s standards of service
  • Perform thorough cleaning of patient rooms, including beds, furniture, and fixtures. Ensure surfaces, floors, and walls are clean, sanitized, and free from debris, stains, or odors.
  • Follow strict infection control procedures, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to hand hygiene protocols. Pay special attention to high-touch surfaces and areas to minimize the risk of healthcare-associated infections.
  • Handle and dispose of medical waste, trash, and soiled linens in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory guidelines. Maintain proper separation and containment of different types of waste.
  • Collect, sort, and launder linens, including bed sheets, towels, gowns, and blankets. Ensure an adequate supply of clean and folded linens is available for patient use.
  • Clean and maintain public areas such as waiting rooms, lobbies, corridors, and restrooms. Regularly restock supplies, including paper towels, soap, and toilet paper.
  • Monitor and restock housekeeping supplies, including cleaning agents, disinfectants, and equipment. Report any shortages or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor promptly.
  • Assist during emergency situations, such as spills, accidents, or natural disasters, by promptly cleaning up and disinfecting affected areas.
  • Communicate effectively with nursing staff, maintenance personnel, and other hospital departments to address housekeeping needs and ensure a coordinated approach to maintaining cleanliness and safety.
  • Follow hospital safety protocols and ensure that housekeeping equipment and materials are stored securely and used safely. Report any safety hazards or security concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulations, including HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) guidelines, to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Seek opportunities for professional development, stay updated on best practices in healthcare housekeeping, and actively participate in training programs or workshops provided by the hospital.
