About The Position

The Housekeeper position at Ohio County Hospital is a PRN (as needed) role responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary hospital environment. This includes cleaning patient rooms, common areas, and bathrooms, as well as restocking supplies and managing trash removal. The role requires providing excellent customer service to patients, visitors, and staff, and adhering to all hospital policies and procedures. The Housekeeper will also perform laundry duties and may be involved in quality improvement initiatives. Accessing email is required for staying updated on organizational information and communication.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (May be allowed to sign a GED agreement to obtain within 6-months)

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality customer service with one-on-one attention to detail.
  • Performs general cleaning functions in a hospital environment.
  • Cleans patient rooms and changes linen on patient beds.
  • Cleans vacant rooms and prepares them for occupancy.
  • Collects and removes trash.
  • Restocks hospital bathrooms and housekeeping supplies.
  • Meets staff development/training requirements for the position.
  • Sweeps, scrubs, mops, and polishes floors.
  • Vacuums carpets, rugs, and draperies.
  • Shampoos carpets, rugs, and upholstery as needed.
  • Dusts and polishes furniture and fittings.
  • Cleans metal fixtures and fittings.
  • Empties and cleans trash containers and disposes of trash in a sanitary manner.
  • Cleans wash basins, mirrors, tubs, and showers.
  • Wipes down glass surfaces.
  • Responds to customer (patient, visitors, staff) queries and requests.
  • Responds to calls for housekeeping problems, such as spills and broken glasses.
  • Contributes to team efforts and exhibits professionalism with customers, staff.
  • Communicates effectively with coworkers, patients, and visitors.
  • Maintains a phone and keeps leadership aware of any phone changes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • May be requested to be a member of the QI team.
  • Frequently accesses email to stay up to date on information within the organization and provides a way of communication between staff members.
  • Performs all procedures according to established policies and procedures of OCH and adheres to all legal compliance policies and other regulatory issues.
  • Fulfills laundry duties.
