HOUSEKEEPER - NEW YORK CITY

Sorensen Staffing•New York, NY
•$40 - $45•Onsite

About The Position

A private family on Manhattan’s Upper East Side is seeking an experienced, warm, and highly adaptable Housekeeper to support two generations of the same family. The position will be shared between two nearby households, with approximately two days each week spent with one household and three days with the other. While each home has its own routines and preferences, the families are looking for someone who can move comfortably between both environments. This role calls for someone who understands that excellent private service is not about arriving with a fixed idea of how a household should operate. It is about learning how these households work and adapting accordingly. The family is looking for someone genuinely pleasant, flexible, and easy to work with—someone who listens carefully, takes direction without defensiveness, and is comfortable adjusting methods and routines to suit the preferences of each household. Experience matters, but so does adaptability and flexibility. The right person will bring strong housekeeping skills but not have a rigid playbook. They will learn what matters to the family, adapt to their standards, and become adept at supporting them. There is a real emphasis on kindness and temperament here. This should be someone who is naturally gracious, steady, and happy to be of service.

Requirements

  • Prior professional housekeeping experience in a private residence.
  • Understanding of the standards, discretion, and consistency expected in a well-run home.
  • Receptive to feedback, adaptable in working style, and comfortable learning new ways of doing things.
  • Friendly, calm, and respectful personality.
  • Not territorial about methods and does not need to prove that their previous household did things differently.
  • Fluent Spanish is REQUIRED.
  • English proficiency is required.
  • Reliability, good judgment, discretion, and a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining both residences to a consistently high standard, with duties tailored to the preferences and routines of each household.

  • Laundry, linens, ironing, and wardrobe care as needed.
  • Maintaining household organization and supplies.
  • Noticing and addressing day-to-day household needs before they become issues.
  • Remembering and respecting the differences between the two homes.
