About The Position

The Housekeeper helps maintain a clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive home for residents at MorningStar Senior Living. The role follows daily work assignments and established housekeeping, infection-control, and safety procedures while caring for resident rooms and shared areas. Housekeepers may interact with residents as they clean and are expected to respect residents’ personal property and keep resident-care information confidential. The position is full-time, scheduled Tuesday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Team members scheduled to work 24 or more hours per week are eligible for benefits; their families are also eligible.

Requirements

Ability to follow written and oral instructions, including directions for mixing cleaning compounds and using cleaning products.

Ability to work harmoniously with personnel and willingness to seek and incorporate new methods and principles into housekeeping practices.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED preferred.
One year of experience in a health care facility preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform assigned housekeeping tasks according to daily work assignments and established procedures.
Maintain assigned areas in a clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive manner.
Follow infection-control practices and safety precautions when performing tasks and using equipment and supplies.
Clean and polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, and room heating and cooling units in resident rooms and recreational areas.
Clean, wash, sanitize, and polish bathroom fixtures; clean windows and mirrors in resident rooms, recreational areas, bathrooms, and entry and exit areas.
Clean floors by sweeping, dusting, mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, and disinfecting as needed.
Vacuum, shampoo, deodorize, and disinfect carpets.
Clean walls and ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting, spot-cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing as needed.
Remove dirt, dust, grease, and film from surfaces using appropriate cleaning and disinfecting solutions.
Clean hallways, stairways, and elevators.
Discard waste in appropriate containers and reline trash receptacles.
Report hazardous conditions, equipment issues, accidents, and incidents to the supervisor.
Keep work areas clean and ensure equipment, tools, and supplies are properly stored, including before breaks, meals, and the end of the workday.
Maintain an adequate inventory of housekeeping supplies.
Report burned-out bulbs and lights, including exit, overhead, fluorescent, and room-call lights, to the supervisor.
Perform terminal cleaning when a resident is discharged or transferred, as instructed.
Follow housekeeping and cleaning schedules and established fire-safety policies and procedures.
Assist others with lifting heavy equipment and supplies when directed or requested.
Maintain confidentiality of resident-care information and respect residents’ personal property.
Turn in found articles to the supervisor.
Attend departmental and staff meetings.
Keep work areas free of hazardous objects and unnecessary equipment or supplies.
