About The Position

This position requires working every other weekend and every other holiday. The role involves following cleaning schedules, cleaning assigned areas, furnishings, and fixtures according to established procedures. This includes disinfecting, polishing, removing trash, watering plants, vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms, replenishing supplies, and inspecting furnishings. The housekeeper will also clean walls, ceilings, fixtures, blinds, stairways, entrances, and exits. They will remove and re-hang curtains, drapes, and dividers. Specific duties include performing cleaning in resident rooms upon discharge and preparing them for new occupants, as well as cleaning isolation units. The role also requires reporting observations about structural and equipment wear, defects, and malfunctions, maintaining a clean housekeeping cart, and attending in-services and staff meetings. Cross-training in Laundry is expected. The position also emphasizes participation in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) efforts, including attending trainings, carrying out assigned QAPI roles, following policies, suggesting improvements, and communicating outcomes or barriers. Additionally, the role requires understanding and promoting Trauma Informed Care by recognizing potential past traumatic experiences of individuals and protecting survivors from re-traumatization. Compliance and ethics are also key, requiring participation in annual training, adherence to the code of conduct, and reporting concerns.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent preferred.
  • Must be able to follow written and oral directions.
  • Ability to communicate and cooperate with a variety of people (Residents, visitors, co-workers, and supervisors).
  • Personal cleanliness and good grooming habits.
  • Must have a sense of responsibility.
  • Must adhere to dress code.
  • Must be able to work without direct supervision.
  • Adequate physical health to perform the essential functions of this position.
  • Criminal background clearance – Act 169 & Act 13.

Responsibilities

  • Follow cleaning schedules (daily, weekly, monthly).
  • Clean assigned areas, movable and stationary furnishings, wall fixtures, lights, mirrors, and windows.
  • Disinfect and polish where required.
  • Remove and dispose of trash.
  • Water house and resident flowers/planters.
  • Vacuum and spot clean carpeting.
  • Clean bathrooms (resident, public, and private).
  • Replenish supplies.
  • Straighten/rearrange and inspect furnishings.
  • Clean walls, ceiling, ceiling fixtures and window blinds as scheduled.
  • Spot clean between washings.
  • Clean stairways, entrances and exits.
  • Remove for laundry and re-hang curtains, drapes, and dividers.
  • Perform cleaning duties to resident rooms when discharged and prepares room for new occupant.
  • Perform cleaning duties in isolation units.
  • Report observations concerning structural and equipment wear, defects, and malfunctions on a work order and to the Supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean and well kept housekeeping cart.
  • Attend In-services and staff meetings.
  • Cross train in Laundry.
  • Participate in QAPI efforts, including attending trainings, carrying out assigned roles, following policies, suggesting improvements, and communicating outcomes or barriers.
  • Promote a culture of safety, empowerment and healing, recognizing potential past traumatic experiences and protecting trauma survivors from re-traumatization.
  • Participate in annual compliance and ethics training.
  • Follow code of conduct reporting any compliance and ethics concerns.
  • Perform minor maintenance repairs as directed by Supervisor.
  • Deliver and stock incoming supplies in designated storerooms.
  • Perform emergency cleaning where and when accidents occur.
  • Buff floors and disinfect where and when necessary.
  • Clean with Autoscrubber as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Housekeeping Supervisor, Designee.
