About The Position
A warm and professional family on the Upper East Side of Manhattan is seeking an experienced Full-Time Housekeeper to join their household. The family includes two parents and a young daughter, nearly 5 years old, and a full-time nanny is already in place. The client is largely office-based during the day, meaning the housekeeper will enjoy a high degree of autonomy and is expected to manage their own time with professionalism and initiative. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned household professional who thrives when trusted to run a home independently. The primary residence is in New York City, and the role includes periodic light upkeep of a secondary residence in Florida belonging to the client’s father. The Florida component is minimal, focused on dusting and keeping the home guest-ready ahead of infrequent visits. The family has no pets due to allergies. The schedule is Monday through Friday, approximately 8:00am to 4:00 or 4:30pm, totaling approximately 40 hours per week. The client is open to some flexibility on exact hours for the right candidate. The family is looking to hire as soon as the right person is identified.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a private household housekeeping role
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to self-direct and manage daily priorities without micromanagement
- Comfortable and natural with young children
- Proficient in all aspects of laundry care and ironing
- Reliable, professional, and trustworthy in an environment with significant daily independence
- Valid US work authorization
- Private household experience required
- Strong, verifiable references from comparable private household positions
Responsibilities
- Perform full daily cleaning and upkeep of the primary New York City residence
- Maintain strong organizational order throughout the home including toys, common areas, and storage spaces
- Manage all household laundry and ironing with care and attention to detail
- Run light errands approximately once or twice per week, including FedEx drop-offs, dry cleaning, and restocking household supplies using a provided credit card
- Perform periodic light maintenance and dusting of the father’s Florida residence to keep it ready for visits
- Provide occasional childcare coverage for the young daughter when the nanny is unavailable
