About The Position

Louisville East Post Acute is searching for a Housekeeper. The responsibilities of the Housekeeper will be to maintain assigned facility areas throughout the day. Facility areas can include all public and common areas including lobby, restrooms, drinking fountains, and floors. Assignments include maintaining the cleanliness of resident rooms and bathrooms, cleaning and removing dust, dirt, or food off walls, mirrors, windows, light fixtures, towel bars, and towel dispensers. The role also involves emptying trash cans and replacing liners, sweeping and mopping floors, and utilizing proper safety measures when cleaning, including the use of caution signage and keeping supplies and chemicals out of reach of residents. Employees are expected to use supplies and equipment in a safe manner by following user manual instructions and to maintain housekeeping carts, equipment, and storage areas in a safe, sanitary, clean, and orderly manner. The position requires notifying the Director of Housekeeping, Administrator, or Director of Nursing immediately regarding resident safety issues or concerns, and notifying the Director of Housekeeping when supplies need to be replenished. Excellent customer skills and a positive attitude are essential, as are excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently or with a team. This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or a GED.
  • Ability to read and understand procedure and instruction manuals and directions.
  • Basic math skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Regularly required to sit, kneel, stand, walk and talk, read or hear.
  • Some use of office related equipment to include; copier/scanner/fax, telephone, calculator
  • Daily use of housekeeping supplies and equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a long term care facility preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize proper safety measures when cleaning, including the use of caution signage and keeping supplies and chemicals out of reach of the residents.
