About The Position

The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of all public and common areas, resident rooms, and bathrooms. This includes tasks such as cleaning floors, walls, windows, and fixtures, as well as emptying trash and managing housekeeping carts and supplies. The role requires adherence to safety protocols for both the employee and residents, and prompt reporting of any safety issues or supply needs. Excellent customer service, time management, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are essential. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or a GED.
  • Ability to read and understand procedure and instruction manuals and directions.
  • Basic math skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Regularly required to sit, kneel, stand, walk and talk, read or hear.
  • Some use of office related equipment to include; copier/scanner/fax, telephone, calculator
  • Daily use of housekeeping supplies and equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a long term care facility preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all public and common areas throughout the day including lobby, restrooms, drinking fountains and floors.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of resident rooms and bathrooms.
  • Maintain handrails to ensure they are clean and free of debris.
  • Clean and remove dust, dirt or food off walls, mirrors, windows, light fixtures. towel bars, towel dispensers.
  • Empty trash cans and replace liners.
  • Sweep and mop floors.
  • Utilize proper safety measures when cleaning, including the use of caution signage and keeping supplies and chemicals out of reach of the residents.
  • Use supplies and equipment in a safe manner by following the user manual instructions.
  • Maintain housekeeping carts, equipment and storage areas in a safe, sanitary, clean and orderly manner.
  • Notify the Director of Housekeeping, Administrator, or Director of Nursing immediately regarding resident safety issues or concerns.
  • Notify the Director of Housekeeping when supplies are needing replenished.
