About The Position

The Housekeeper is responsible for keeping assigned areas clean, sanitized, and aseptic by performing various housekeeping tasks such as scouring, scrubbing, mopping, window washing, carpet vacuuming, and dusting. The role also involves keeping workstations clean and well-stocked. This position reports to the Director of Bethesda North Pointe and the Lead Housekeeper, and interacts with Culinary, Recreation, and Nursing departments, as well as external contacts like visitors, families, and vendors. The work schedule is Monday through Friday during business hours, with flexibility for weekend support as needed. The job requires previous healthcare or housekeeping experience to be desirable, and the ability to read, write, and understand English. Essential personal attributes include good physical and mental health, the ability to follow directions accurately, a willingness to assume responsibility, efficient time management skills, a commitment to excellence in cleaning, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Understanding of equipment and chemicals is also important. The role involves working with geriatric residents, requiring care and empathy, and a self-motivated approach. The housekeeper must be familiar with the physical layout of the facility.

Requirements

  • Previous healthcare or housekeeping experience desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Clean resident rooms and common spaces, including following cleaning schedules, cleaning and disinfecting residential apartments, dusting surfaces, cleaning window casings, wiping down light fixtures, wiping down surfaces, washing mirrors, emptying garbage, sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning vents, cleaning sinks and toilets, and vacuuming.
  • Communicate effectively with residents and other staff, treating resident information with confidentiality, reporting changes in resident responses and behaviors, maintaining a calm and pleasant manner, and maintaining confidentiality regarding staff and facility information.
  • Work safely by consistently observing safety policies and procedures, using safety equipment as required, and monitoring the use of housekeeping supplies.
  • Serve as an example of excellence in meeting work requirements by reporting to work and completing tasks as scheduled, complying with all written housekeeping policies, attending in-services and training, participating in annual performance evaluations, maintaining professional conduct, and having a pleasant attitude towards staff, residents, and visitors. Be willing to learn and adapt to changing needs.
