About The Position

The Housekeeper works in Environmental Services to keep the hospital safe and clean for patients and families. The role cleans and sanitizes patient rooms and common areas, removes regular trash and medical waste, uses cleaning equipment, helps set up rooms by moving furniture or hospital equipment, and coordinates with nurses, patients, and supervisors about cleaning priorities. Paid on-the-job training is provided. No prior hospital experience or high school diploma is required.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize patient rooms and common areas using the hospital’s step-by-step system.
• Safely empty regular trash and medical waste bins.
• Use basic cleaning tools, including mops and vacuums, as well as carpet cleaners and floor scrubbers.
• Move chairs, tables, or hospital equipment when needed to help set up rooms.
• Communicate daily with nurses, patients, and supervisors to determine which rooms need cleaning next.
