About The Position

This position provides a safe, clean, and sanitized environment for visitors and staff in County buildings. The role is responsible for sanitizing and cleaning assigned areas, inspecting buildings for debris and special cleaning needs, conducting general building maintenance, performing setup for special events, maintaining and updating Material Safety Data Sheets, inspecting and testing fire alarms and fire extinguishers, and monitoring recycling collection bins. Other related job duties may be assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; two (2) years directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Possession of a valid, State of North Carolina driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle.
Knowledge of County and departmental policies and procedures.
Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances.
Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components.
Skill in operating, maneuvering and/or controlling the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials used in performing essential functions.
Skill in prioritizing and organizing work.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Ability to work with limited supervision.
Ability to understand and follow safety procedures regarding equipment, supplies, and chemicals.
Ability to effectively communicate and interact with management, employees, members of the general public and other groups involved in the activities of the County as they relate to the department.
