EVS - Housekeeper - Ellsworth AFB
About The Position
This is a full-time position with an anticipated schedule of 4:00pm - 12:30am. The role requires the ability to perform all phases of housekeeping or janitorial duties to provide a clean, sanitary, comfortable, and satisfying environment for hospital staff, patients, and visitors. The housekeeper promotes sanitary conditions that prevent the spread of infection and odor. The role involves following required procedures for handling, cleaning, disposing of, or moving objects/materials and cleaning up blood, infectious materials, and body fluids containing blood in accordance with OSHA Blood-borne Pathogen Standard and HHS Exposure Control Plan.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency diploma (GED) preferred.
- Able to communicate, read, write, and understand the English language.
- Must have at least one year of housekeeping experience in a hospital/health care environment.
- Be able to walk extended periods of time, bend, kneel, push, pull, and stretch as required.
- Be able to lift 50 lbs.
Responsibilities
- Cleans and disinfects patient rooms, beds, gurneys, examination tables, restrooms, offices, and other common areas within the hospital environment to a clean aseptic standard.
- Performs terminal cleaning of patient rooms and special procedure rooms such as surgical, Labor and Delivery, Emergency Rooms, Cath Lab, Burn Unit, Neonatal, and Pediatrics following HHS and procedures.
- Collects and disposes of regular trash, RMW (Regulated Medical Waste), and recycling materials.
- Collects and removes soiled linen into appropriate bins.
- Replenishes hand soap, hand sanitizers, and other supplies as needed.
- Dust mops floors with microfiber using standard operating procedure.
- Wet mops floors with disinfectant using microfiber material following standard operating procedure.
- Handles various types of cleaning chemicals and must comply with all regulations such as OSHA, EPA, The Joint Commission, and State Health Department, and be able to read and understand SDS.
- Uses appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
- Dusts all horizontal and vertical surfaces, furniture, spot washes walls, cleans and polishes fixtures, air vents, handrails, blinds, windows, and sills, and other items as required.
- Be able to work different shifts as needed.
- Uses supplies wisely and keeps assigned janitor’s closet in clean and neat condition.
- Reports any maintenance work orders to supervisor.
- Always uses safety precautions in all housekeeping services.
- Adheres to key control and ID badge policy.
- Must adhere to HIPAA policy at all times.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
