About The Position

This is a temporary/fill-in position for a Housekeeper. The role involves maintaining the cleanliness of all public and common areas, including the lobby, restrooms, drinking fountains, and floors. Additionally, the Housekeeper will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of resident rooms and bathrooms, ensuring handrails are clean and free of debris, and cleaning walls, mirrors, windows, and fixtures. The position requires emptying trash cans, sweeping and mopping floors, and utilizing proper safety measures when cleaning. This includes using caution signage and keeping supplies out of reach of residents. The Housekeeper must use supplies and equipment safely, following user manual instructions, and maintain housekeeping carts, equipment, and storage areas. They are also responsible for notifying supervisors of resident safety issues or concerns and when supplies need replenishment. Excellent customer service and time management skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or a GED.
  • Ability to read and understand procedure and instruction manuals and directions.
  • Basic math skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Regularly required to sit, kneel, stand, walk and talk, read or hear.
  • Some use of office related equipment to include; copier/scanner/fax, telephone, calculator.
  • Daily use of housekeeping supplies and equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a long term care facility preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all public and common areas throughout the day including lobby, restrooms, drinking fountains and floors.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of resident rooms and bathrooms.
  • Maintain handrails to ensure they are clean and free of debris.
  • Clean and remove dust, dirt or food off walls, mirrors, windows, light fixtures, towel bars, towel dispensers.
  • Empty trash cans and replace liners.
  • Sweep and mop floors.
  • Utilize proper safety measures when cleaning, including the use of caution signage and keeping supplies and chemicals out of reach of the residents.
  • Use supplies and equipment in a safe manner by following the user manual instructions.
  • Maintain housekeeping carts, equipment and storage areas in a safe, sanitary, clean and orderly manner.
  • Notify the Director of Housekeeping, Administrator, or Director of Nursing immediately regarding resident safety issues or concerns.
  • Notify the Director of Housekeeping when supplies are needing replenished.
