Southpoint Surgery Center (SPSC), an affiliate of North Carolina Specialty Hospital, is a new Ambulatory Surgery Center located between Raleigh and Durham in the Durham-Southpoint area. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education required.
  • Be able to operate floor buffers, scrubbers and vacuums to clean and polish floors.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year experience of Environmental Services and/or housekeeping in an ambulatory/surgical setting preferred.
  • Apply Finishes: Strip, wax, and apply protective coatings or sealants as needed.
  • Clean & Polish: Apply cleaning solutions, remove scuff marks, and buff floors to a high shine.

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning all assigned and trained areas, such as operating rooms, patient rooms, bathrooms, administrative offices, O.R. break room, and other facility areas.
  • Assuring housekeeping supplies are stocked daily and according to established PAR levels.
  • Performing floor care, including cleaning, buffing, scrubbing, and waxing floors.
  • Trash pickup.
  • Performing proper terminal cleaning daily per hospital policy and procedure.
  • Demonstrating proper decontamination of clinical areas, equipment, and non-disposable supplies according to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Recommending appropriate revisions to new or existing policies and procedures when appropriate and as needed.
  • Assisting with maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly environment, adhering to safety and infection control requirements.
  • Maintaining proper attire while in the operating room and restricted areas, including use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Following standard precautions and safe practices in handling of biohazardous material, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintaining janitorial closets in a clean and orderly fashion to prevent a hazardous environment.
  • Posting appropriate safety signs to assure a safe environment is maintained for patients, visitors, and all staff.
  • Reporting all chemical spills immediately to management and understanding MDRO sheets in case of exposure.
  • Assuring that chemicals are used, stored, and maintained in a safe manner according to manufacturer's recommendations and reporting any hazardous conditions immediately.
  • Keeping the patient environment clean using standard procedures in cleaning and maintenance of rooms, offices and common areas.
  • Identifying potential risks to patients to reduce incidence of injury; identifying actions to eliminate, minimize or report risks; identifying procedures to follow in the event of an incident; reporting processes for common problems, failures, and user errors.
  • Completing additional duties as needed and assigned.
  • Weekend rotation required.
