About The Position

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join the team as a Housekeeper at the #1 Hotel in Los Angeles, as voted by Travel and Leisure: Oceana in Santa Monica, CA. This oceanfront, all-suite hotel reopened in July 2019 after undergoing a $35 Million complete transformation, and we are now seeking motivated, enthusiastic professionals to become integral members of our team. As a Housekeeper for the Hotel Oceana Santa Monica, you help maintain a safe, clean, and attractive environment for our guests. The Housekeeper is vital to achieving high guest satisfaction through the upkeep and cleanliness of guest rooms and suites.

Requirements

  • Treats all guests with the highest level of concern and care; demonstrates a natural disposition towards personal and public safety; operates from a place of integrity, honesty, and ethics
  • Able and willing to maintain regular attendance and punctuality to ensure all essential duties are fulfilled
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to write and speak clearly
  • Treats everyone with respect and dignity, accepts responsibility and takes ownership of tasks, follows through on commitments, takes initiative and maintains confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, strong time management skills with a proven ability to meet goals and deadlines
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • A high school diploma or GED is required, or have equivalent work experience in the hospitality industry
  • Able to frequently lift or move items weighing up to 10 pounds; occasionally needs to lift or move items weighing up to 20 pounds
  • Able to use hands to use and manipulate tools and objects or control equipment; adequate vision to do the same safely
  • Able to move about the property to perform assigned tasks and responsibilities, including standing for extended periods, walking, climbing stairs, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling to perform functions

Nice To Haves

  • Prior custodial, housekeeping or janitorial experience is preferred but not necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Make up rooms and prepare rooms for new guests daily by changing bed linens, replacing towels and facecloths, restocking toilet tissue and complimentary toiletries, cleaning rooms and bathrooms as needed, and refreshments offered for sale in each room’s minibar.
  • Maintain a fresh stock of linens throughout the day by performing all stages of the cleaning process, including collecting, sorting, loading and unloading washers and dryers, ironing, folding, storing and delivering.
  • Engage with guests in a friendly and efficient manner while working around the property.
  • Answer guests’ questions and direct them around the hotel as needed.
  • Create a safe environment for our guests and employees with a safety-first approach to everything you do.
