About The Position

Distinctive Living is seeking a Housekeeper/ Porter for their Mira Vie Assisted Living community in Manalapan, NJ. The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of apartments and common areas, performing laundry services, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. This role involves direct interaction with residents, requiring a friendly and attentive approach, and the ability to communicate resident health concerns to management.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of experience in a cleaning or housekeeping role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to communicate verbally in person and over the phone.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic apartment cleaning, including dusting, vacuuming, changing linens, making beds, and cleaning bathrooms (toilets, sinks, showers, mirrors, floors).
  • Avoid disturbing residents' belongings and respect their privacy.
  • Remove and replace linens for cleaning, ensuring enough inventory for weekly changes and laundry schedules.
  • Interact with residents in a friendly manner and provide meaningful attention.
  • Communicate resident health concerns to management.
  • Maintain cleanliness in all common areas, including entryways, reception, corridors, bathrooms, activity rooms, and dining rooms.
  • Clean floors by sweeping, dusting, mopping, waxing, buffing, and disinfecting.
  • Set up and remove caution and safety signs to ensure resident and visitor safety.
  • Clean carpets, including vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting.
  • Clean public restrooms, washing, sanitizing, and polishing fixtures, and removing water marks.
  • Remove dirt, dust, grease, and film from surfaces using appropriate cleaning solutions.
  • Handle hazardous cleaning supplies according to procedures and ensure accurate labeling.
  • Attend in-service educational classes and on-the-job training programs.
  • Respond appropriately to resident emergencies by contacting appropriate parties.
  • Assist with disaster management efforts during evacuations.
  • Maintain compliance with all local, state, federal, and licensing rules and regulations (HIPAA, OSHA, labor laws).
  • Report any regulatory issues to the management company immediately.
  • Work in a safe manner and report unsafe actions to the Executive Director.
  • Comply with Safety Committee Standards.
  • Notify the Executive Director of workplace injuries and follow all procedures for treatment, investigation, and return to work.
  • Foster teamwork, show initiative, assist others, and have a positive impact on coworkers, residents, and visitors.
  • Develop basic knowledge of the organization to answer basic questions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
