About The Position

To maintain a clean, sanitary, and healthy environment for all ABHS staff and consumers. To supervise and assist ABHS clients in completion of their housejobs. To assure completion of and participate in all custodial activities, whether those activities have been assigned to clients or not. Complete scheduled laundry services. Maintain overall cleanliness and health of the facility. Maintain Dept. of Health records as needed. Oversee client, volunteer, and assigned staff as necessary.

Requirements

  • Experience in the areas of institutional janitorial/laundry services.
  • Experience in the area of institutional laundering.
  • Must be flexible and able to follow instructions.
  • Must be physically able to endure physical labor.
  • Must be able to lift up to fifty pounds, reach above and below shoulder height, and must be able to push, pull and bend.
  • Must be able to read and follow instructions.
  • Must be familiar with the use and risks of using janitorial and laundry products.
  • Must be able to work independently or with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Assess need and order housekeeping and janitorial supplies as needed.
  • Maintain overall cleanliness and identify repair needs of the treatment service buildings and grounds, when requested.
  • Keep maintenance department informed of any repair needs on a daily basis.
  • Perform light maintenance when able; i.e., changing light bulbs, etc.
  • Establish and maintain a work schedule for housekeeping duties and laundry duties in each building assigned, to be approved by your supervisor.
  • Conduct regular reviews of new work needing to be done, and schedule completion of those tasks.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all floors, walls, windows, carpets, etc., and any other surfaces on a continuous basis.
  • Wash sinks, toilets, refrigerators, beds and mattresses.
  • Assure all rooms are cleaned and swept daily.
  • Assure all rooms are mopped weekly.
  • Assure all rooms are dusted, the walls cleaned, and floors stripped and waxed monthly.
  • Clean up any mess or soiled area when encountered, whether scheduled or not.
  • Perform Laundry activities in both buildings on a daily basis.
  • Work shifts as assigned.
  • Assess need for custodial improvements and projects as well as planning such projects under the direction of your supervisor.
  • Advise Supervisor of any possible improvements or areas of improvement needed with client’s health and welfare in mind as well as building upkeep.
  • Implement the efficient and professional delivery of all custodial activities.
  • Perform assignments in a professional and caring manner.
  • Take written and/or verbal orders and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Provide support and assistance, if qualified, whenever needed to assure quality services for ABHS consumers.
  • Assure all assignments are performed in a professional and caring manner.
  • Respond to the directives of the supervisor and management staff in a professional and cooperative manner.
  • Assure that all ABHS’ clients’ needs are met with dignity and respect and in a timely manner.
  • Make decisions based on the welfare of the client, the success of the team, and the quality and integrity of the program.
  • Understand and facilitate federal confidentiality laws, 42 CFR, and protects client confidentiality/anonymity, and assures no information is shared without proper authorization.
  • Ensure compliance to contractual obligations, ABHS policies, and State statues (WACs).
  • Operate independently. Oversee assigned personnel, be it cliental, volunteer, or assigned staff as necessary.
