About The Position

Mansfield Nursing is seeking an energetic Housekeeper/Laundry Aide. This role requires flexibility, a willingness to help where needed, and conscientiousness in following policies and procedures. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work and will be responsible for the general cleaning of all common areas and resident rooms to ensure residents live in a clean and comfortable home. The Housekeeper/Laundry Aide cleans and services rooms, baths, lavatories, and other resident areas. Duties include dusting furniture and equipment, cleaning windowsills and baseboards, emptying trash, and arranging furniture. The role involves performing a variety of related duties in resident areas, cleaning and servicing assigned areas and equipment, ensuring efficient use of supplies, and maintaining the nursing facility in a clean and orderly manner. Services are performed across all departments and are planned in coordination with all departments.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Previous experience preferable but not essential.
  • Worker receives on-the-job training with supervision.
  • Must have some knowledge in the use of cleaning devices such as brooms, mops, buffers and other cleaning equipment.
  • Has an interest in learning, ability to cooperate, and is willing to work under supervision.
  • Must work scheduled hours each week, which may include working weekends and holidays.
  • Must have a pre-employment and an annual Tuberculosis screening examination.

Responsibilities

  • Execute duties under the direction and supervision of the Director of Nurses and/or Administrator and Housekeeping Supervisor according to assignment.
  • Keep the nursing facility in a clean and sanitary condition to provide for the welfare and care of the residents in a healthful environment.
  • Have a genuine interest in working with geriatrics.
  • Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis, and perform tasks despite frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to perform tasks with due consideration for residents in the area.
  • Initiative and judgment involved in maintaining the assigned area in clean and orderly condition.
  • Works under close supervision performing simple, standardized tasks.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
  • Attends required staff in-services, meetings, orientation, and continuing education activities as required.
  • Is aware of and adheres to Patient’s Bill of Rights and confidentiality of patient information including HIPAA regulations.
  • Interacts with patients and family members, co-workers, clinical and ancillary staff in a non-judgmental, supportive and calm manner.
  • Is aware of Patient Abuse Reporting Law.
  • Participates as assigned in the orientation of new staff and demonstrates a positive, helpful and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Dust furniture with damp cloth or polishing cloth daily; straighten furniture.
  • Dust light fixtures outside and inside, dust windowsills, baseboards and beds, clean all door vents.
  • Empty and wash ashtrays and wastebaskets.
  • Dry mop floors in residents' rooms then wet mop rooms, if assigned.
  • Clean wash basins, commodes, polish chrome fixtures in bathrooms, wash all mirrors, and spot clean walls.
  • Clean window blinds. Clean beds thoroughly. Clean bedside tables in resident's rooms, dust all shelves, removing all articles making sure thorough cleaning is done.
  • Clean housecleaning cart. Clean any equipment used daily.
  • Clean all rooms each week.
  • Assist with emergency cleaning during the day as required.
  • Mop, wax and buff hallways, living areas, and dining areas as assigned.
  • Practice economy in using supplies and equipment.
  • Dispense supplies according to need.
  • Maintain safeguards for the care, storage, and use of supplies and equipment.
  • Report to Administrator or DON any supplies or equipment needed, or any broken or defective equipment.
  • See that resident rooms are prepared for new admissions.
  • Assist in moving resident within facility.
  • Make frequent rounds of total facility to inspect for cleanliness and order.
  • Inspect for maintenance and refer needs to maintenance department or Administrator and/or DON.
