Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of the principles of safe effective housekeeping practices within the State of employment.
  • Ability to be a team player to partner with other departments.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and move equipment, supplies, etc in excess of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to do constant walking, bending, lifting and standing for long periods during a scheduled shift.

Nice To Haves

  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a full range of housekeeping services to maintain the grounds, furnishings, equipment and facility.
  • Maintain cleaning schedules for assigned areas.
  • Coordinate routine/terminal isolation procedures with Nursing Services.
  • Maintain knowledge of safety regulations, policies and procedures and follow established safety procedures and precautions.
  • Report all unsafe/hazardous conditions, defective equipment, etc. to supervisor immediately.
  • Honor residents’ personal and property rights.
  • File complaints/grievances with supervisor in a timely fashion.
  • Follow established policies/procedures of laundry tasks.
  • Use proper protocols for picking up soiled linens, including isolation linens, and transporting them to the laundry department.
  • Use proper protective clothing/equipment while performing laundry duties.
  • Maintain all cleaning schedules for each assigned area and follow the laundry department schedules.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all residents and their care to ensure residents rights, privacy and property are protected at all times.
  • Report and document resident and/or visitor incidents, accidents, complaints or allegations according to the facility’s policy and procedure using the designated occurrence reporting systems.
