Requirements

  • Six (6) Months prior experience as a housekeeper in a hospital, hotel or similar environment.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Specialized training in area of housekeeping.
  • One (1) year experience as lead housekeeper or team lead experience within a hospital, hotel or similar environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains all assigned areas in a clean and sanitary condition.
  • Performs cleaning/sanitizing tasks as outlined on the shift/daily/weekly/monthly cleaning schedules, which may include wash, dust, polish, vacuum, sweep and mop all areas of the facility.
  • Cleans and sanitizes sinks, tubs, showers and toilets according to prescribed sanitary standards.
  • Polishes fittings and fixtures as directed.
  • Cleans mirrors and windows as directed.
  • Empties and cleans trash receptacles as directed.
  • Cleans and sanitizes office and common areas including patient rooms, public and private restrooms, nursing areas and patient laundry areas as directed.
  • Performs/assists with cleanup of bodily spills according to organizational guidelines using Universal/Standard Precautions and Personal Protective Equipment. Disposes of hazardous materials according to organizational protocol.
  • Cleans, sanitizes and maintains all flooring according to facility cleaning schedules, which may include tiled, carpeted, polished concrete, wood and other flooring types.
  • Cleans and sanitizes linens according to organizational protocol as directed by supervisor. Maintains a separation of dirty and clean linens within the laundry/storage area.
  • Distributes clean linens and paper goods according to facility schedule.
  • Restocks cleaning and paper supplies according to organizational guidelines.
  • Follows safety guidelines when using cleaning chemicals, appliances, and other commercial housekeeping equipment.
  • Removes trash, boxes or other soiled materials to appropriate containers in a timeframe that ensures patient/visitor and staff safety and infection control in addition to following regulatory guidelines.
  • Inspects housekeeping equipment to ensure safety prior to use. Uses housekeeping equipment according to manufacturer and facility direction. Promptly notifies supervisor and/or maintenance of any concerns.
  • Maintains clean laundry, housekeeping and storage rooms that are free from fire and other hazards.
  • Observes and reports any maintenance issues according to supervisor guideline.
  • Adheres to health and safety regulations pertinent to facility, organization, state or other regulatory bodies to promote and increase infection control.
  • Creates the schedule for the housekeeping department staff to ensure staff scheduling meets the needs of the organization as assigned by supervisor.
  • Trains housekeepers and/or patients to ensure they are successfully able to follow cleaning, sanitizing and infection control on a routine basis.
  • Prepares orders for all department cleaning chemicals, equipment and linens. Identify ways to keep department costs down and report to supervisor.
  • Participates in any department or facility inspections as directed by supervisor to include leadership, local, state or other regulatory bodies. Corrects deficiencies within requested time frame.
  • Communicates with management to maintain the level of cleanliness and that infections control standards are being met.
  • Provides input for department personnel performance reviews as assigned by supervisor.
  • Adheres to Valley Hope’s philosophies, policies, and procedures as well as any other regulating bodies.
  • Participates in all assigned staff meetings, staff development, and training as required.
  • Interacts and communicates with others (patients, co-workers, management, and vendors) in a professional and tactful manner including treating them with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position.
