About The Position

The purpose of Environmental Services within Corewell Health is to provide our patients and their families a clean and safe environment. A Housekeeper I is responsible for daily, routine and project cleaning and maintenance of the floors and other designated areas of the Hospital, while interacting with patients, visitors, and other Hospital staff. The following description of essential duties are intended to reflect the major responsibilities and tasks of the job, other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

• Must be able to comfortably interact with patients, families, and visitors.
• Must use appropriate chemicals and guidelines when performing tasks.
• Must be properly trained on required tasks and provided with tools to perform assigned duties.

Responsibilities

• Interact with patients, families, and visitors with a warm smile and friendly demeanor.
• Perform daily and routine maintenance of Hospital flooring, including cleaning and maintaining carpets, tile, and other hard surface flooring.
• Strip, scrub, refinish, and buff hard floor surfaces (tile, linoleum, etc.), including associated detail work.
• Shampoo/extract carpets and upholstery, vacuum, sweep, dust, and damp mop.
• Perform mat care and replacement where required.
• Perform detail cleaning of walls, doors, frames, and kick plates.
• Perform terminal cleaning of OR and other Surgical Areas.
• Perform daily maintenance of equipment.
• Remove trash and soiled linen.
• Deliver clean linen where required.
• Stock supplies.
• Use appropriate chemicals and guidelines when performing tasks.
• Utilize provided tools to perform assigned duties.
