Housekeeper / Housekeeping Aide - Afternoon/Evening Shift
About The Position
As a Housekeeper (or Custodian) in our medical center, you help create a safe, welcoming environment where residents can heal and feel at home. Your work supports dignity, comfort, and recovery every single day. We are serving mental health patients. Our residents are adults working to rebuild their psychological health and independence. They count on us. We take pride in creating a warm, welcoming home where everyone feels respected and cared for. This is a full-time position with 8-hour shifts, 32-40 hours per week, scheduled from 11 AM to 7 PM, with an every-other-weekend rotation. The hourly wage is $17.00 plus benefits. New Employee Orientations are held every other Wednesday, starting at 10:30 AM, and require a full day attendance.
Requirements
- At least 1 year similar experience in a medical / healthcare facility or commercial cleaning setting (strongly preferred)
- Must be 18 years of age or older AND hold a High school diploma or GED
- Basic computer skills
- Understanding of Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) safety and sanitation rules
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Ability to regularly push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds
- Pass a pre-employment physical and background check
- This position will require extended periods of walking and standing to perform duties
- Union membership requirements will be applied as per the current Union Contract with this center.
Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain resident rooms and common areas
- Empty trash, clean bathrooms, wash windows, and care for floors
- Vacuum, sanitize, and prepare rooms for new residents
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment throughout the building
