About The Position

This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the distribution facility. Key duties include managing trash and recycling, ensuring safety by cleaning spills and properly storing hazardous materials, operating cleaning equipment, and assisting with various facility maintenance tasks. The role involves regular checks of trash receptacles, recycling centers, and specific areas like dock doors and MRM locations. Additionally, the housekeeper is responsible for preparing materials for disposal or recycling, such as baling cardboard and loading out scrap pallets. This role also includes routine maintenance of cleaning equipment and assisting management with ad hoc tasks.

Requirements

  • Ability to work an 8-hour non-rotating day shift.
  • Ability to follow instructions and report issues to a supervisor.
  • Ability to handle physical tasks including lifting, sweeping, and operating machinery.
  • Awareness of safety procedures, such as cleaning spills and handling sharp objects.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating a floor scrubber.
  • Experience with baling and banding materials.

Responsibilities

  • Empty trash cans at front of buildings and inside plant entrance.
  • Check and maintain bottled water at water stations and make Gatorade fill Popsicles.
  • Check and empty recycle centers at break room.
  • Check and remove trash and recycle from around dock doors.
  • Dispose of broken wood/broken pallets/unwanted plywood from the yard to a recycle bin or dumpster.
  • Report unsafe storage areas to a supervisor (leaning pallets, damaged wall…etc.).
  • Clean up oil spills or leaks from lift trucks immediately to avoid slips and trips.
  • Place sharp objects in a proper safe container (blades/nails..etc.).
  • Check dumpster and empty when needed.
  • Check trash compactor levels and advise Supervisor when needing empty.
  • Run sweeper in plant.
  • Empty trash, remove damage, empty pallets, and cardboard each shift.
  • Check trash cans twice a shift at end of aisles throughout plant.
  • Check MRM satellite locations twice a shift and empty as needed.
  • Walk aisles and bulk zones picking up trash, empty pallets, damage and dispose properly.
  • Maintain MRM Area (Bale and band as needed).
  • Fill out the checklist and turn in to Supervisor at the end of shift.
  • Pass on incomplete task info to following shift.
  • Load out scrap pallets, cardboard, cores, and plastic on designated trailer (check each shift).
  • Maintain gas for lift trucks when needed.
  • Run floor scrubber twice a week.
  • Load out recycled cans and bottles as needed.
  • Help clean up non-conformance areas as needed.
  • Assist with ad hoc tasks assigned by Management.
  • Clean out sweeper daily.
  • Lock out and clean out equipment during plant break times.
  • Clean out from under dumps and conveyors along with other equipment after appropriately Locked Out based on equipment.
  • Sweep and pick up wood/trash out of hard surface locations.
