About The Position

Visiting Angels of Edmond is hiring a Housekeeper and Companion Caregiver for our clients throughout the Oklahoma City Metro area. This role offers flexibility, room for growth, and the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of senior adults. The caregiver will assist clients in their homes, helping them maintain dignity and independence while recovering at home or staying at home. Responsibilities are varied and depend on the client's needs, but generally involve personal care, light housekeeping, meal preparation, medication reminders, and assisting with mobility. Caregivers must also be prepared to handle medical emergencies and report any health changes.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Excellent time-management skills
Reliable transportation to client visits
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks
Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen
Training/knowledge in First Aid and emergency response
A heart for vulnerable people seeking meaningful companionship
Willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards

Responsibilities

Helping clients handle personal care and hygiene
Managing light housekeeping
Encouraging clients to meet their exercise and fitness goals
Prompting clients to take their prescription medications at the right times
Helping clients with shopping and putting away groceries (or shopping for them)
Planning and preparing meals in collaboration with clients (based on client ability)
Assisting clients with mobility and ambulation—this can include everything from getting around the house to visiting the doctor and taking walks
Acting quickly in the case of medical emergencies
Adequately reporting any health changes or unusual circumstances
