About The Position

We are a warm, busy, and high-energy household in Navy Yard seeking a proactive and highly organized Household Manager & Family Assistant. This part-time role (18-20 hours per week) involves supporting a working mom and her two spirited daughters. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who anticipates needs, maintains household organization, and provides light childcare support. Responsibilities

  • Provide school pick-ups three times per week.
  • Offer light supervision and back-up childcare during afternoons and evenings.
  • Prep backpacks, clothing, and supplies for extracurricular activities.
  • Be flexible for occasional backup childcare on a weeknight or weekend basis.
  • Create and maintain household organization systems.
  • Assist with daily resets and prepare the home for cleaners.
  • Perform light tidying, including dishes, surfaces, and vacuuming high-traffic areas.
  • Manage seasonal swaps for clothing, décor, and bedding.
  • Prepare and coordinate donation drop-offs.
  • Assist with occasional guest and event preparation.
  • Help with packing and unpacking for travel.
  • Assist with occasional deep cleans and larger organizational projects (e.g., fridge, pantry).
  • Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies.
  • Manage running household supply lists.
  • Assist with household orders and subscriptions.
  • Handle returns, dry cleaning drop-off and pickup, and miscellaneous errands.
  • Manage mail and package handling, including breaking down boxes.
  • Prepare and cook ready-to-eat dinners for children three times per week.
  • Prep school lunches as needed.
  • Perform grocery shopping and fresh snack preparation.
  • Follow dietary needs and preferences (healthy, kid-friendly).
  • Handle kitchen cleanup after meal prep and maintain kitchen tidiness.
  • Manage the full laundry system for the household (wash, fold, organize).
  • Assist with linen rotation as needed.
  • Maintain tidy and well-stocked laundry areas.
  • Maintain awareness of the family calendar (Skylight), including household schedules.
  • Track receipts and budget for expenses incurred as house manager.
