About The Position

As an HHW (Household Hazardous Waste) Technician, you’ll play a key role in helping residents safely dispose of materials that cannot be thrown away through regular waste channels. This hands-on role is a great opportunity for individuals who enjoy active work, supporting community safety, and gaining exposure to environmental services.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to follow directions and work safely in a fast-paced, physical environment
Reliable transportation to event locations
Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
Able to lift and move containers of varying weights with proper technique

Nice To Haves

Basic knowledge of or interest in environmental services, waste handling, or related fields

Responsibilities

Safely offload cars and unload household hazardous materials onto waste segregation tables.
Sort and segregate household hazardous waste by category following established procedures and training.
Participate in the setup, breakdown, and maintenance of HHW event sites and work areas.
Direct traffic through the HHW lane to ensure safe and efficient flow.
Maintain full compliance with all safety protocols, PPE requirements, EHS regulations, and environmental policies.
Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant throughout event operations.
Understand and adapt to the nuances and scope differences between various HHW events.
Support event staff to ensure efficient operations and a positive resident experience.
Perform other duties as assigned.
