The House Supervisor is responsible for participating, observing, and acting as a resource to staff for patient-related clinical and service problems. This role collaborates with physicians to ensure optimal patient care and effective resource utilization, while supporting staff in problem-solving patient service and unit issues. The House Supervisor also acts as a patient advocate, responding to patient and visitor concerns, and initiates investigations into patient incidents and medication errors, ensuring proper documentation and corrective action plans. Additionally, this role serves as a liaison for staff to ensure optimal patient care processes, collaborates with various managers and administration to facilitate quality care, identifies trends in system problems, and assists with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges. The House Supervisor obtains patient reports, evaluates patient status, and may transfer patients or reassign staff as needed. They also complete databases, process initial key physician orders, and begin admission processes. This role responds to public relations issues, maintains guest relations, and alerts relevant departments of potential patient/hospital situations. The House Supervisor ensures compliance with regulatory agencies and intervenes during the absence of the Safety Officer or Patient Safety Officer in life-threatening situations. The position requires performing patient positioning and transporting duties, demonstrating age-appropriate care knowledge and skills.
