The House Supervisor is a management position responsible for directing and coordinating patient placement and nurse staffing throughout LBMC. This role directs and triages admissions and transfers, making the final decision on clinical unit assignments. The House Supervisor responds to all customer requests, including patients, families, physicians, and staff, in a collaborative and direct manner. They are responsible for resolving unusual and unplanned patient and staff problems, referring them to executive management or Risk Management if necessary. The position also evaluates significant events through debriefing, data analysis, and intervention, consulting with the Director or Executive Nurse on call. The House Supervisor acts on behalf of executive nursing and/or executive management in their absence and responds to all hospital emergency codes, acting as the Chief Nursing Officer and Incident Commander during Code Triage until relieved. They initiate emergency policies and procedures for situations like Emergency Department saturation or lack of staff for patient admissions.
