About The Position

Copper Springs - East is seeking a dedicated and experienced Behavioral Health House Supervisor (RN) to join their full-time team. This role involves managing nursing department scheduling and staffing, overseeing hospital operations in the absence of administration, and providing direct patient care when needed. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with regulatory standards, conduct investigations, and foster a positive and collaborative work environment. This position is crucial for maintaining smooth operations and ensuring high-quality patient care within the behavioral health setting.

Requirements

  • Current state RN license
  • Associate degree from an accredited nursing school
  • CPR certification required within 30 days of hire
  • De-escalation certification required within 30 days of hire
  • Experience in a psychiatric health-care facility with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric, or geriatric patients preferred
  • Experience in patient assessment, family motivation, treatment planning, and communication with external review organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Manages scheduling and staffing for the nursing department, ensuring coverage, minimizing overtime and agency use, and approving or denying time-off requests.
  • Monitors staff attendance, maintains records of tardiness and absences, and assists the Director of Nursing with payroll.
  • Provides backup nursing and intake assistance, responds to patient needs, and advocates for patients.
  • Supervises hospital operations when administration is not present, oversees staff performance, and provides coaching and education as needed.
  • Conducts staff evaluations and delivers disciplinary actions professionally and promptly.
  • Assists the Director of Nursing in conducting department meetings, documenting attendance, and preparing meeting minutes.
  • Provides support to the intake department as necessary.
  • Maintains knowledge of regulatory standards (TJC, Medicaid, state and federal laws) and ensures compliance.
  • Performs conflict resolution and mediation with staff, involving appropriate leadership when necessary.
  • Conducts thorough investigations, collects and documents accurate information, and provides reports to appropriate parties.
  • Demonstrates comprehensive nursing skills including assessments, treatment planning, admission and discharge procedures, medication administration, and delivery of direct patient care as needed.
  • Ensures documentation is timely, accurate, and complete and delivers quality nursing care to achieve treatment plan goals.
