Under the general direction of the Chief Nursing Officer and Directors of Nursing, the House Supervisor is responsible for facilitating PCS departmental operations through the coordination and supervision of direct patient care on all nursing units. This individual assists in the appropriate allocation of nursing personnel on a daily basis to meet patient care requirements in collaboration with the PCS directors, managers and charge nurses. The House Supervisor makes decisions independently in areas of responsibility based on Administrative and Departmental operational standards and coordinates Hospital operations in the absence of Department Directors in consultation with the PCS Directors and other Departmental Directors as needed. This position will coordinate the placement of all admissions (elective and emergent) and transfer in accordance with the clinical standards and guidelines. This position will also be responsible for ensuring the patient is admitted to the most appropriate bed available using criteria for admission, and determining if the patient is a candidate for observation or inpatient status. The delivery of professional nursing care at Stormont Vail Health is guided by Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring and the theory of Shared governance, both of which are congruent with the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
