About The Position

House Manager & Family Assistant (with Meal Prep Support) Location: Portland, OR 97229 Employment Type: Part-time (guaranteed minimum 25 hours/week, with flexibility to increase up to 40 hours during summer months) Proposed Start Date: ASAP Proposed Schedule Minimum of 25 hours per week guaranteed Schedule on Monday- Friday will include a combination of: 2 longer days per week (approximately 8:00 AM – 4:30/5:00 PM) to support school drop-off/pick-up and after-school activities in addition to household management tasks 2–3 shorter days per week (8:00 AM – early afternoon) focused on household management while children are in school Friday support needed at least in the morning to midday Full-time hours (up to 40 hours per week) during summer months Flexibility for occasional evening coverage (date nights/work events or travel) as needed with advance notice Compensation $35–40 per hour, based on experience. Additional hours compensated at the agreed hourly rate, with overtime paid in accordance with Oregon state law. Two weeks PTO provided, plus sick leave in alignment with Oregon requirements. Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license (Candidate will use their personal vehicle for errands and child transportation with mileage reimbursed). Our days are full and structured, with early mornings, global calls, school commitments, competitive sports practices, and travel sprinkled throughout the year. We thrive on being organized and planful, and we value a home that feels orderly, calm, and welcoming despite our pace. Our twins are bright, studious, and deeply engaged in academics and athletics. They are active in competitive sports several days a week. We also have a young, energetic Australian Labradoodle who is still growing into herself and benefits from consistency, calm leadership, and regular walks. We are very much a “go, go, go” household, but we deeply value family time. We currently manage most household systems ourselves and keep our home in excellent order. We are seeking someone who can step in as a true partner in maintaining that standard, easing the daily logistics, so we can spend more meaningful time together while keeping the home warm and welcoming. You bring prior household management or family assistant experience to the role and have the flexibility to adjust your schedule around the family’s needs with prior notice. Responsibilities

  • Household Organization & Maintenance Create and maintain household organization systems (closets, pantry, storage areas, etc.) Reset and tidy rooms daily; maintain overall neatness, ensure home is prepped for biweekly cleaning service Conduct seasonal swaps for clothing and bedding, also keeping track of what children have grown out of Prepare and coordinate donation drop-off and pick ups as needed, manage marketplace listings for items family chooses to resell Load/unload dishwasher, wipe surfaces, vacuum high-traffic areas Maintain indoor plants Keep entryways, mudroom, and garage organized
  • Inventory Management & Errands Track and restock pantry, fridge, toiletries, and household supplies Create and manage running household supply lists Coordinate and place household orders (Amazon, Costco, Target, etc.) Run errands including groceries, returns, dry cleaning, and gift shopping Pick up local deliveries for family
  • Meal Support Support in planning and prepping dinner meals for family 2-3x/week (e.g., crock pot meals) Pack school lunches for twin boys Support grocery shopping for meal-related items Maintain kitchen organization and cleanliness, especially after meal prep
  • Laundry & Linens Wash, dry, fold, and organize family laundry (e.g., clothing, bedding, towels, linens) Manage linens: Rotate bedding, refresh towels, restock essentials Handle special care/delicate items Keep laundry areas tidy and well-stocked with supplies
  • Family Support Morning support to help children get ready and out the door for school (arriving by 8:00 AM) Prep lunches Support prep of backpacks and sports gear, as needed Assist with school/activity drop-offs and pickups a few days per week Provide occasional supervision for date nights or travel coverage Support summer schedules, including camp transportation Provide general supervision for twins during after school routine (e.g., homework, evening activities, chores, etc.)
  • Pet Care Feed and walk the family dog in the morning Keep pet supplies stocked and organized Assist with occasional vet visits if needed
  • Vendor & Property Oversight Schedule and supervise service providers as needed (e.g., cleaners, contractors, landscapers, etc.) Research and coordinate repairs, maintenance, and quotes Manage hot tub maintenance weekly (e.g., checking salt levels, using test strips). Support seasonal property needs and outdoor upkeep (e.g., ensuring heater is covered, etc.)
  • Deep Cleaning & Special Projects Tackle occasional deep cleaning projects (fridge, oven, baseboards, etc.) Maintain appliances such as humidifiers, washing machines, air purifiers and ensuring they are cleaned periodically Organize and execute special household projects
  • Administrative & Personal Assistant Support Help with travel planning, scheduling, and logistics (e.g., researching for activities/restaurants in a location planned for Spring Break) Assist with summer camp registrations
