About The Position

The House Electrician III is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, apparatus, and components of industrial machinery, equipment, and the site. This role requires adherence to electrical codes, manuals, schematics, diagrams, and blueprints. The position also involves training other electricians and subcontractors, and performing hands-on assembly and disassembly of components and machinery. All duties must be performed in accordance with Seneca Gaming Corporation’s policies, procedures, Internal Control Standards, and objectives.

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older.
High school diploma or its equivalency required.
Completed an apprentice program, journeyman training, and retain a Master Electrician’s license from an appropriate jurisdiction, or have demonstrated equivalent knowledge and experience.
Ten (10) years of previous hands-on electrical experience, with at least 3 years involving the training and guidance of electrical trades.
Knowledge and experience in commercial electrical applications required.
Ability to read, interpret, and understand electrical one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, and drawings.
Ability to troubleshoot circuits, motors, and equipment using drawings and owner’s manuals.
Well-versed in the interpretation and implementation of the National Electrical Code, the New York State Uniform Building and Fire Prevention Code, National Fire Prevention Association, and Occupational Safety and Health Association standards.
Knowledge of UPS systems, static, manual, and automatic bypass switches, battery maintenance and testing, and both open and closed transition transfer switches.
Ability to read, interpret, and implement the intent of architectural, engineering, and design drawings in all phases of building construction.
Experienced directing work performed by subcontractors to ensure compliance with contract specifications and documents.
Ability to organize job plans, work with and direct other employees on joint projects, and monitor job progress.
Experience working with medium voltage equipment and switchgear, and with systems served from multiple utility feeds and generation sources.
Experience working on suspended scaffolding and certified as a “competent person” in its use and training others.
Proven ability to act as a lead Electrician and mentor other Electricians.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and have a safe driving record acceptable to the liability insurance carrier.
Effective decision-making skills by analyzing information, considering priorities, and seizing opportunities.
Knowledge of electrical terminology.
Knowledge and ability to read blueprints and drawings.
Must possess supply management, basic safety, equipment maintenance, thoroughness, independence, and excellent communication skills.
Well-versed in safety procedures for electrical work to prevent electrical shock and falls.
Ability to write routine correspondence, develop presentations, proposals, and reports.
Ability to speak effectively to management, employees, and the public.

Must be in good physical condition, have good manual dexterity, and good color sense.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge and experience in subjects such as blueprint reading, electrical theory, electronics, mathematics, mechanical drawing, electrical code requirements, safety and first aid practices, welding, fire alarm systems, HVAC, and plumbing.
Previous customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Design, plan, layout, install, and service all phases of commercial electrical systems, including service entrances, distribution, emergency generator systems, advanced lighting systems, motor controls, wiring in classified locations, and fire alarm systems.
Maintain and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, and electrical systems of industrial machinery and facilities according to electrical code specifications, blueprints, manuals, and electrical schematics and diagrams.
Design, plan layout, and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus, including cutting, threading, bending, coupling, and strapping conduit up to 4 inches in size, and cutting wire and conduit to length.
Diagnose and repair malfunctioning electrical apparatus, transformers, motors, lighting fixtures, wiring, and electrical/electronic components using test equipment like voltmeters, ohmmeters, megohmmeters, GFI testers, and phase rotation meters. Work on circuits up to 13,200 volts following NFPA 70E standards.
Diagnose and repair/replace damaged or broken wires, cables, and faulty electrical components of machines and building wiring, such as relays, switches, motors, sensing devices, light bulbs, plugs, sockets, fuses, and extension cords.
Interpret complex wiring and line drawings, and prepare switching plans to safely de-energize switchgear for service and testing with minimal impact on facility operations.
Develop load shedding schemes to maximize facility operations during maintenance or emergency situations.
Operate emergency generation equipment and connect it to building loads during emergencies, with knowledge of phasing and synchronizing generated sources.
Install, wire, troubleshoot, and repair variable frequency drives (VFDs) using wiring diagrams, owner’s manuals, and technical documents, including diagnosing fault codes and setting parameters.
Perform medium voltage switching and racking in/out of medium voltage switches.
Install, troubleshoot, test, and repair telecommunication and data wiring, devices, and terminations per EIA-TIA standards, using signal verification equipment and labeling installations.
Install, troubleshoot, and verify fiber optic cable installations, including ducts and strand terminations per industry standards.
Install, service, and repair complex sign circuits and controls, working safely on suspended work platforms up to 350 feet.
Diagnose and repair malfunctioning electrical apparatus, transformers, motors, lighting fixtures, wiring, and electrical/electronic components using test equipment, working on low, medium, and high voltage systems.
Install power supply wiring and conduit for new machines, equipment, robotics, conveyors, PLCs, CNCs, and other programmable control instruments, following blueprints, manufacturer specifications, and electrical codes.
Inspect and operate programmable controllers to check for malfunctions and verify repairs.
Repair electronic components using electronic test equipment, replacement parts, brazing, soldering, welding equipment, and other tools.
Guide day-to-day operations of on-site electricians, including training staff and planning/scheduling work for electricians and subcontractors. Instruct on work safety practices and procedures.
Direct the installation of coaxial and fiber optic cable projects, telephone systems, computer wiring, intercom systems, time clocks, fire and security systems, street lights, audio/visual equipment, conveyors, and other electronic equipment.
Perform all levels of preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance on building equipment, troubleshooting control issues and loading programs.
Perform other related duties as required.
Maintain a current understanding of information security policies, including the Seneca Gaming Corporation Acceptable Use Policy.
Provide exceptional customer service to patrons in a pleasant, friendly, and professional manner.
Maintain a professional work environment with supervisors, managers, and staff.
Meet attendance guidelines and adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies.
Complete all required SGC Training programs within nine months of employment.
