About The Position

The House Electrician I is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, apparatus, and components of industrial machinery, equipment, and the site. This role requires adherence to electrical codes, manuals, schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications. The position involves hands-on assembly and disassembly of component parts and machinery according to diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer specifications. All duties must be performed in accordance with Seneca Gaming Corporation’s policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards, and objectives. The role operates within a 24-hour schedule.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older upon employment.
  • High school diploma or its equivalency required.
  • Five (5) years of previous hands-on electrical experience, including three (3) years in a commercial, industrial, or institutional environment.
  • Completion of a state-certified two (2) year vocational training program is considered equivalent to one (1) year of hands-on experience.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70 and NFPA 70E is essential and must be demonstrated.
  • Ability to receive and understand verbal directives and requests, comprehend trade terminology, and execute requests.
  • Knowledge and experience to understand the use of basic tools of the trade.
  • Knowledge and experience in blueprint reading, electrical theory, electronics, mathematics, mechanical drawing, electrical code requirements, safety and first aid practices.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and substantiate a safe driving record acceptable to the liability insurance carrier.
  • Must make effective decisions by analyzing information, considering priorities, and seizing opportunities.
  • Knowledge of electrical terminology.
  • Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
  • Must possess supply management, basic safety, equipment maintenance, thoroughness, independence, and excellent communication skills.
  • Must be well-versed in safety procedures when performing electrical work to prevent risk of electrical shock and falls.
  • Ability to write routine correspondence, develop presentations, proposals, reports, and speak effectively to management, employees, and the public.
  • Ability to deal effectively and interact well with customers and employees.
  • Ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
  • Must be in good physical condition, have good manual dexterity, and good color sense.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and experience in welding, fire alarm systems, HVAC-heating, ventilation and air conditioning, and plumbing.

Responsibilities

  • Install and service all phases of commercial electrical systems, including service entrances, distribution, emergency generator systems, energy advanced lighting systems, motor controls, wiring in classified locations, and fire alarm systems.
  • Maintain and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, and electrical systems of industrial machinery and facilities according to electrical code specifications, blueprints, manuals, electrical schematics, and diagrams.
  • Install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus, including cutting, threading, bending, coupling, and strapping conduit, and cutting wire and conduit to length.
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctioning electrical apparatus, transformers, motors, lighting fixtures, wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment using test equipment, working on circuits up to 480 volts within NFPA 70E standards.
  • Install power supply and control wiring, including raceways, cables, conduits, supports, and junctions for newly installed machines and equipment, motors, conveyors, HVAC equipment, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and other automated control instruments, following electrical blueprints, manufacturer’s specifications, electrical codes, and standards.
  • Diagnose, repair, and/or replace damaged or broken wires, cables, and faulty electrical components of machines and/or building wiring, such as relays, switches, motors, sensing devices, light bulbs, plugs, sockets, fuses, and extension cords.
  • Repair electronic components using electronic test equipment, replacement parts, brazing, soldering equipment, welding equipment, and other hand and power tools.
  • Perform all levels of preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance on building wiring, line and low voltage equipment, communication wiring, and data wiring.
  • Troubleshoot building wiring and controls, mechanical systems wiring and controls, telecom, data, and fire alarm systems, components, and controls.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Maintain a current understanding of all policy and guidelines regarding information security, including the Seneca Gaming Corporation Acceptable Use Policy.
  • Understand and comply with all information security policies and procedures at all times.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons and communicate in a pleasant, friendly, and professional manner at all times.
  • Maintain a professional work environment with supervisors, managers, and staff.
  • Meet the attendance guidelines of the job and adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies.
  • Complete all required SGC Training programs within nine (9) months from commencement of employment.
  • Attend all necessary meetings.
