About The Position

The employee is responsible for the general upkeep of the House and Gardens. This includes pruning, weeding, and watering gardens, as well as cleaning garden facilities and performing light maintenance of the home. The role also involves seasonal deep cleaning of garden facilities, assisting with annual and other special events, and supporting facility rentals and set-up. Additionally, the attendant may assist in the gift shop and maintain the museum, restrooms, and exhibit areas through light cleaning and dusting. The position requires the ability to climb stairs, lift and move items, and climb ladders. Knowledge of Gone With the Wind (book and film) is preferred, or a willingness to learn.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED.
One year of related work experience.
Good business math skills.
Ability to give and receive change.
Ability to operate a cash register, calculator, and PC Computer.
Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends as required.
Good verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact with the public and present a positive image of the city and the museum.
Must be bondable and have a satisfactory background check.
Must be able to climb stairs, lift and move items, and climb ladders.

Responsibilities

Prunes, waters, and weeds gardens.
Installs and maintains flowers in pots seasonally.
Cleans and maintains bathroom cottage, carriage house, fountain, and windows.
Performs light house maintenance, such as changing lightbulbs.
Assists with event attendance, set up, and cleanup.
Walks the grounds and picks up litter.
Assists in the gift shop as needed.
Maintains the museum, restrooms, and exhibit area by performing light cleaning and dusting.
Performs other related duties as needed.
