About The Position

The Rec Room is a revolutionary new entertainment concept expanding across Canada, offering a wide range of attractions including simulation games, redemption gaming, luxury bowling, billiards, and live entertainment. It features an upscale casual dining environment with an open kitchen, a contemporary menu, and an "eatertainment-style" concept in the games area. The Rec Room integrates a cutting-edge interactive technology platform to enhance the overall experience. This position is based at The Rec Room Masonville Place in London, Ontario, and reports to the Head Chef, Sous-Chef, or Kitchen Supervisor. The Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality food efficiently, safely, and consistently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Teamwork, adherence to safety procedures, and tolerance for heat are essential.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of cooking experience required.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of food and catering trends, quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation required.
  • Knowledge of methods and procedures for serving food, principles of sanitation, and principles of safe food handling required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lb.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
  • Highly effective teamwork skills.
  • Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel and e-mail.
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work.
  • Superior time management skills, multitasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.

  • Professional diploma or food services management preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Daily preparation of food items in the pantry, fry, and/or stations or other areas of the kitchen.
  • Setting up station according to restaurant guidelines.
  • Following clean as you go requirements.
  • Preparing all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner.
  • Following recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications.
  • Restocking all items as needed throughout the shift.
  • Cleaning and maintaining station in practice of good safety, sanitation, and organizational skills.
  • Assisting with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas.
  • Preparing dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances.
  • Ensuring quality and safety of food by performing standard and additional sanitary measures.
  • Working at an efficient and consistent pace.
  • Ensuring timely preparation of all meals.
  • Ensuring that the correct quantities are prepared to meet daily needs.
  • Utilizing kitchen equipment during food preparation.
  • Staying productive at all times and preparing for future needs as time allows.
  • Demonstrating flexibility and volunteering to fill open shifts as required.
  • Following proper reporting procedures for accidents and incidents.
  • Adhering to all regulations including blood borne pathogens, infection control, use of hazardous materials, and fire safety.
  • Serving food in the proper portion size and at the proper temperature.
  • Reporting any infraction in the food services department policies and procedures.
  • Arriving to work at the scheduled time.
  • Performing other related duties as required.
  • Opening and closing the station as per the requirements.
  • Leading by example with an eagerness to learn.
  • Executing daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules.
