The Hourly Engineer is responsible for ensuring high-quality work on all tasks, maintaining equipment, the building, and grounds in perfect condition. This role assists in maximizing the efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness of the Engineering Department. The engineer must be flexible to rotate within different sections of the Engineering Department or other hotel departments as assigned. They must be fully conversant with all services and facilities offered by the hotel, keep their workspace clean and organized, and monitor operating supplies to reduce spoilage and wastage. Handling guest and employee inquiries courteously and efficiently, reporting complaints or problems to supervisors, and ensuring follow-up are key aspects of this role. The engineer must ensure all assigned tasks are completed with high-quality workmanship within the assigned timeframe. Specific duties include maintaining and repairing mechanical and plumbing fixtures, inspecting, cleaning, maintaining, and repairing fire fighting, sprinkler, and fire prevention systems, as well as hot and cold water supply systems, sewage systems, pumps, and aerator installations. Timely completion of maintenance requests, with a focus on guest-related and front-of-house jobs, is essential.
