About The Position

This position is for an Hourly Adult Education Instructor at the Mansfield Juvenile Correctional Facility, focusing on GED instruction and attainment. The role involves teaching the course curriculum, building student knowledge and clinical skills, maintaining accurate student records, assisting with student recruitment and program implementation, evaluating student progress, and communicating effectively with students and affiliated staff. The instructor will provide a stimulating learning environment, maintain a monthly timesheet, and collaborate with advisors, career coaches, and SNAP case managers to help students obtain benefits and employment. The position requires the ability to perform physical work with patients and students in a clinical setting, work nights, and supervise students in various settings. The instructor must be able to work with diverse populations, possess excellent organizational skills, be skilled in teaching adult learners, maintain professional working relationships, and maintain emotional control under stress. Duties may include after-school or before-school assignments and supervision during field trips and extracurricular events. The position is contingent upon the availability of funds.

Requirements

  • Must meet AR teaching licensure requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the course curriculum as outlined for and other instructional educational training programs developed for adults.
  • Build knowledge and develop clinical skills aimed at assisting students to obtain credentials.
  • Maintain accurate records on all students, including but not limited to attendance records, schedules and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content.
  • Assist the director of Adult Ed in recruiting students for their programs, and assist with implementing new programs.
  • Evaluate and document students’ progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills attained.
  • Communicate effectively with students, and all those affiliated with the course, including staff at any training facilities, and prospective employers.
  • Provide a stimulating environment that encourages student participation, interpersonal skills development, and concepts of good patient care.
  • Maintain a monthly time sheet and turn in at required deadlines.
  • Work as a team team with advisors, career coaches, and SNAP case manager to assist students in obtaining available benefits and potential employment.
  • Ability to perform physical work with patients and students in a clinical setting, if applicable.
  • Ability to work nights.
  • Carries out duty as assigned, including after-school or before-school duties.
  • Supervises students on recess, bus, during before and after school duty, on field trips, extracurricular events, and in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Adult Education Director.
