About The Position

At Moxy Miami Wynwood, we believe great hospitality is about more than a great check-in and a cool place to hang out. It’s about making sure everything behind the scenes works just as hard as our Crew does. We’re looking for a hands-on, solutions-driven Maintenance Engineer & Crew Lead who knows their way around a toolbox, can troubleshoot problems without breaking a sweat, and has the leadership skills to keep a small team moving in the right direction. In this role, you’ll take the lead on day-to-day maintenance operations while supervising and supporting two Crew Members. From keeping our guest rooms in top shape to making sure our public spaces are looking sharp and our building systems are running smoothly, you’ll set the standard, delegate the work, and jump in when things need fixing. You’ll lead by example, keep your cool when things get hectic, and help ensure our hotel is always ready for its next guest. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, owns their responsibilities, and understands that at Moxy, we work hard, solve problems, and get things done—without losing our personality.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in hotel maintenance, facilities maintenance, building operations, or a similar role.
• Previous leadership, supervisory, or team-coordination experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of general maintenance, plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, painting, carpentry, and common building repairs.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to identify practical, lasting solutions.
• Ability to organize daily workloads, prioritize urgent requests, delegate assignments, and follow through on results.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with Crew Members, management, vendors, and other hotel departments.
• A hands-on leadership style with the ability to coach others while maintaining high standards of workmanship and accountability.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced hotel environment where guest needs can change in a heartbeat.
• Commitment to workplace safety, preventative maintenance, and maintaining a clean, organized work area.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, or respond to urgent maintenance needs as required.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are a plus.
• Bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, coordinate, and support two Maintenance Crew Members, ensuring daily assignments are completed safely, efficiently, and to Moxy standards.
• Set daily priorities, delegate work orders, monitor progress, and follow up to ensure repairs and preventative maintenance are completed on time.
• Lead by example by remaining hands-on with repairs, inspections, and general maintenance rather than managing from the sidelines.
• Coach, train, and develop Crew Members, encouraging accountability, teamwork, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Communicate shift priorities, outstanding work orders, maintenance concerns, and project updates to hotel leadership.
• Help foster a positive, collaborative Crew culture where everyone takes ownership and looks out for one another.
• Perform and oversee a variety of maintenance and repair tasks, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, lighting, painting, carpentry, fixtures, furniture, and general building upkeep, within the limits of training, licensing, and authorization.
• Troubleshoot equipment, building systems, and guest room issues; identify root causes and determine the appropriate corrective action.
• Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms, hallways, public spaces, back-of-house areas, and hotel equipment to identify issues before they become bigger problems.
• Coordinate preventative maintenance schedules and ensure tasks are completed and documented consistently.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and guest-related issues, minimizing disruption to the guest experience.
• Maintain the appearance, functionality, and overall condition of the property, keeping our Wynwood style looking its best.
• Identify recurring issues, recommend practical solutions, and communicate larger repairs or projects requiring outside vendors or management approval.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance logs, work orders, inspection records, and preventative maintenance documentation.
• Ensure tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies are organized, properly stored, and used responsibly.
• Monitor inventory and communicate supply needs before the toolbox runs dry.
• Follow all hotel policies, applicable building codes, workplace safety requirements, and emergency procedures.
• Ensure the team uses appropriate personal protective equipment and follows safe work practices.
• Coordinate with hotel leadership, Housekeeping, Front Office, and other departments to prioritize repairs and keep operations moving.
• Recognize when a repair requires a licensed specialist or outside contractor, and escalate accordingly.
• Take ownership of additional duties and projects as assigned.
