About The Position

The DoubleTree by Hilton Miami Airport Convention Center is seeking an experienced PM Hotel Maintenance to join their team. This position is 100% on-site. The PM Hotel Maintenance position will be a non-exempt starting at $20/hr and will report to the Maintenance Assistant Manager and Chief Engineer. The PM Hotel Maintenance Team Member is responsible for performing routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance throughout the hotel, convention center, guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces. This position responds to guest and operational work orders, identifies maintenance issues before they become larger problems, and assists with maintaining the property's mechanical, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and general building systems. The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to prioritize multiple work orders, and a commitment to providing timely and professional service to guests and internal departments. Additionally, supports compliance with safety and health standards, responds to emergencies efficiently, and works closely with the engineering team to uphold overall facility performance and guest satisfaction to meet AFP Management standards.

  • At least 2 years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field; or a 2-year college degree and 2 or more years of related experience; or a 4-year college degree and at least 2 years or related experience.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current Certification as required by Federal, State or Local governing agents pertaining to trade requirements (i.e. HVAC, pool operation, electrical), property specific.
  • Must have a valid driver's license for the applicable state.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair all guest room plumbing (toilets, sinks, showers, bathtubs)
  • Ensure consistent hot and cold water supply throughout the property
  • Address and repair leaks (pipes, faucets, valves) promptly to prevent damage
  • Clear clogged drains and sewer lines in guest rooms, kitchens, and public areas
  • Maintain proper water pressure across all floors and outlets
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with AFP Management standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working.
  • Always comply with AFP Management standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Conduct routine inspections of hotel rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and convention areas
  • Inspect and maintain sump pumps, grease traps, and backflow preventers
  • Monitor and service water filtration and softening systems
  • Identify potential issues early to avoid guest disruption
  • Respond quickly to plumbing emergencies (flooding, pipe bursts, backups)
  • Shut off and isolate water systems when needed to minimize damage
  • Coordinate with engineering and management during major incidents
  • Ensure functionality and upkeep of escalators, elevators, and high-traffic entry systems
  • Maintain lighting systems, including ballrooms, meeting rooms, exhibit halls, and exterior areas
  • Respond to guest work orders quickly and professionally
  • Minimize downtime in occupied rooms and public areas
  • Communicate clearly with housekeeping and front office on room status
  • Evaluate and spot check the work of all staff and contractors or outside laborers.
  • Attend monthly all-employee meetings and any other functions required by management.
  • Maintain a professional working relationship and promote open lines of communication with managers, employees and other departments.
  • Always use proper two-way radio etiquette when communicating with other employees.
