About The Position

The Engineer reports to the Chief Operating Engineer and possesses diverse knowledge of electrical, plumbing, steam, gas, fire & safety, and HVAC refrigeration. This is a hands-on role requiring active participation in the day-to-day operation, service, and repairs of hotel equipment. The position also involves actively developing trusting and transparent relations with fellow associates, emphasizing collaboration, humility, experience, and open-mindedness.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in building maintenance; previous experience as a hotel engineer preferred or comparable experience at an establishment such as apartment complex or office building
  • Flexible availability, 3-4 days per week, including weekends
  • Basic knowledge of refrigeration systems, electricity, HVAC, and plumbing, certifications are a plus
  • Working knowledge of the English language in reading, writing and verbal communication
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods, bend, climb stairs and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work by yourself, lead yourself, make it count!
  • Ability to work varied shifts, that may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Uphold and role model the company’s principles of People, Place and to ensure the experiences of translocal hospitality, intuitive service, and collaboration
  • Maintain a good working relationship with other associates by promoting teamwork and fostering a harmonious working environment
  • Maintain all equipment, systems and building components including, but not limited to, mechanical and electrical systems, pumps, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, locks, furniture, paint, wall coverings, tile, and other equipment
  • Handle routine maintenance, repairs and cleanliness in guest rooms, public spaces, event space, outlets, back of house spaces and grounds
  • Demonstrate familiarity with the hotel’s safety systems and takes corrective action on any maintenance or operating problems which affect the security or operating condition of the hotel
  • Participate in the room preventative maintenance program
  • Use skills and intuition to detect equipment malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair
  • Repair and maintain physical structure of establishment and furnishings as needed
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards; Participate in all scheduled training classes and meetings
  • Transport heavy boxes and packages within the hotel for maintenance and repairs
  • Assist in delivery and setup of all new equipment such as televisions, mattresses, tables, chairs, etc.
  • Communicate with Chief Operating Engineer on projects as assigned
  • Respond to all guest requests in a timely and personable manner
