Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years previous experience as a commercial building maintenance technician.
  • State Boilers license or willing to obtain State Boilers license required.
  • Must be able to work 2nd and/or 3rd shifts, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • High School graduate or equivalent is required.
  • Able to obtain certificate of completion of specialized training.
  • Must have working knowledge of: Proper chemical handling, use and disposal; Equipment handling; Health Codes; Electrical Codes; National and local fire codes; Local Mechanical codes; Blueprints and wiring schematics; Power and hand tools, meters, etc. as it relates to technical trades.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Computer mathematic calculations (add, subtract, multiply and divide).

Responsibilities

  • Inspect guestrooms, public spaces and back of the house areas to ensure good condition, attractive appearance, proper operation of equipment and all aspects of life safety.
  • Perform duties requiring experience in using basic hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
  • Completing preventative maintenance on equipment, machinery, property finishes, and guestrooms.
  • Administrative duties which include but are not limited to logbook entries, utility meter reading entries, operating equipment readings and verifying hotel activity, assisting with parts ordering.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all department policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment.
  • Use equipment only as intended.
  • Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests’ needs in a manner that best represents the hotel.
  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
  • Monitor and respond to all maintenance radio calls in a positive and professional manner and resolve all guests’ requests, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Monitor and complete all assigned work orders in a timely manner: Plumbing, Electrical, Kitchen Equipment, Laundry Equipment, Guestrooms.
  • Maintain timelines and work schedule in accordance with the preventative maintenance program for both guestrooms and mechanical systems.
  • Recommend energy saving and safety ideas.
  • Attend department meetings as required and participate in loss prevention and other safety programs.
  • Clean walls, doors and woodwork as needed.
  • Repair furniture and fixtures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
