About The Position

The Bartender is responsible for the service of beverages and/or food to the guests in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner, resulting in guest satisfaction. Also to prepare beverages for other servers to supply to guests. The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below. Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred
  • Some Bartending experience or education required
  • Ability to obtain TABC & Food Handlers Certification
  • Must be reliable and responsible
  • Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must have a strong knowledge of various drinks, the ability to manage bar inventory effectively
  • Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges, and understand portion sizes
  • Ability to grasp, lift, carry, or otherwise move up to 50 pounds
  • Sufficient manual dexterity in hands in order to use a knife to make garnish, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead to retrieve stock
  • Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for extended periods of time

Responsibilities

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and varied shifts, as required to meet the needs of the Company's business operations
  • The position requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can multitask with ease, and maintains a positive attitude under pressure
  • Maintain proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basis
  • Responsible for the maintaining of stock, cutting and storing of all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishables daily to insure product quality
  • Greet guests in a courteous and friendly manner, promoting and documenting drink orders
  • Mixes, garnishes and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion control
  • Inputs orders into a register at the point of sale and creates a check for each guest to maintain accountability of all beverages served
  • Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens
