About The Position

The Hotel Maintenance Handyman is responsible for performing a variety of general maintenance, repair, and upkeep duties throughout the hotel property. This position helps ensure that guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, equipment, and building systems are maintained in a safe, clean, functional, and presentable condition. The ideal candidate is a skilled, dependable, hands-on individual who can troubleshoot problems, complete repairs efficiently, and take pride in maintaining the overall appearance and operation of the hotel.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in hotel maintenance, apartment maintenance, facilities maintenance, construction, or a related field preferred.
  • General knowledge of drywall, painting, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, flooring, and general building repairs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and determine appropriate repair solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple maintenance requests.
  • Ability to respond to emergency maintenance situations when necessary.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to safely use common hand and power tools.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and materials as required.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general repairs and maintenance throughout the hotel, including guest rooms, hallways, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
  • Repair and patch drywall, including holes, cracks, and damaged surfaces.
  • Perform interior and exterior painting and touch-up work as needed.
  • Repair, replace, and maintain flooring, including carpet, tile, and other floor surfaces.
  • Perform carpet cleaning and spot cleaning as needed.
  • Assist with plumbing repairs, including faucets, toilets, sinks, drains, and minor leaks.
  • Perform basic HVAC troubleshooting and maintenance, including PTAC units, thermostats, filters, and other equipment.
  • Perform basic electrical repairs and troubleshooting, such as replacing light fixtures, switches, outlets, and bulbs, when qualified and permitted.
  • Repair and maintain doors, locks, hinges, closers, furniture, and other fixtures.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance programs and routine inspections of hotel equipment and building systems.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and guest room work orders.
  • Identify and report major maintenance issues requiring specialized contractors or licensed technicians.
  • Assist with pool, laundry, kitchen, and other hotel equipment maintenance as needed.
  • Maintain hotel grounds and exterior areas, including basic repairs and general upkeep.
  • Keep maintenance tools, equipment, and work areas clean, organized, and secure.
  • Maintain accurate records of completed work and report recurring or significant issues to management.
  • Follow all hotel safety procedures, OSHA guidelines, and applicable building and fire codes.
  • Provide professional and courteous service when interacting with guests and hotel employees.
  • Assist other departments and management with special projects and hotel improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
