About The Position

The Hot Tapping Lead Technician is responsible for the safe and successful performance of hot tapping services onsite at client work locations. This role involves interacting with various customers and operational support people to successfully coordinate and execute services. The Lead Technician is responsible for leading on-site operations and personnel while promoting the safety, quality, and integrity culture at Colt.

Requirements

5 or more years of experience with on-line leak repair
Must be able to pass routine and random drug screening
Ability to perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice
Must be able to understand, speak, and write English
Ability to prioritize and complete work assignments by specific deadlines
Must possess a valid driver’s license
Ability to lift and carry 75 pounds
Must be able to walk and climb throughout industrial areas including steps and ladders
Ability to Communicate with customers and crew in high stress environments
Ability to work on elevated or hard to reach surfaces and areas in a variety of locations throughout industrial facilities
Must be able to manage time and schedule on a weekly basis and be able to travel when necessary to offsite locations
Excellent communication skills, must be able to follow Standard Operating Procedures, evaluate each individual job scope, and mitigate all safety hazards with proper safety precautions and personal protective equipment

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of plant maintenance and repair work preferred
Have obtained or has the ability to obtain OSHA 10 And OSHA 30 certification

Responsibilities

Maintains a safe, secure and healthy environment by adhering to Company/Customer safety standards and practices alerting others regarding potential hazards both pertaining to and not pertaining to your scope of work
Performs all duties assigned and adheres to Colt’s Core Values
Responsible for the review of client job scopes, operating within job and client documentation
Accountability of job equipment and tooling prior to arriving at the job site
Performs Hot tapping operations that may include any of the following techniques and tasks: Creating a safe entry into a pipe or vessel; operating at a pressure or vacuum, 45 Degree Angle Taps, Hot taps and conventional line stops, Hot stops, Double Line Stops, Tee Stops and Elbow Stops, Through the line valve stops and Freeze Stops
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment
Maintain on-call status with ability to respond to customers rapidly and travel to address customers service needs on site
Inspect fittings provided by manufacturing as part of quality control prior to installation
Identifies the necessity for the use of proper safety equipment, in coordination with the plant, and Colt’s safety matrix in order to perform all projects as safely as possible
Perform appropriate documentation and administrative procedures as required from a job-to-job basis
Communicates and collaborates with field personnel, client representatives and management in order to obtain successful completions of projects
Knowledge and ability to educate a client towards appropriate service offerings for the condition
Adhere to quality procedures and demonstrate a strong safety culture
