About The Position

Hot Shot Driver needed to safely operate a 1 ton truck with a gooseneck trailer, transporting construction materials and machinery. This role requires adherence to safety regulations, accurate record-keeping, effective communication, and the ability to travel extensively. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Class A CDL with Tank endorsement.
  • Valid DOT Med Cert with Non-Excepted Interstate self-certification.
  • Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and best practices for equipment transport.
  • Ability to operate equipment during loading and unloading processes.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Basic mechanical skills for minor truck and trailer maintenance.
  • Willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to read, understand and navigate using paper and/or digital maps.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years of experience operating and/or transporting construction equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a 1 ton with gooseneck trailer in a manner that reduces risk and liabilities.
  • Load and secure construction materials and machinery onto the trailer for transport in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
  • Accurately measure load dimensions and weight to ensure compliance with OS/OW permit requirements and State and Federal regulations.
  • Perform and properly document pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer to ensure they are in a safe and legal condition.
  • Maintain accurate records of trip details, including mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance reports and hours worked.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, equipment operators, and other team members to coordinate equipment transport and delivery schedules in a direct and friendly manner.
  • Adhere to Emery Sapp & Sons safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform basic maintenance and repairs on the truck and trailer when necessary.
  • Assist with loading and unloading equipment and materials at job sites as needed.
  • Occasional heavy lifting.
  • Extensive travel may be required.
  • Accurately navigate a truck and trailer using instructions, maps or GPS, to a wide variety of locations both on road and off.
  • Properly wear and safely use PPE.
  • Properly record hours worked using an ELD in compliance with Hours of Service regulations.
  • Documenting equipment pick up and deliveries.
  • Ensure accuracy of pickup and delivery.
